We would love to welcome you to our luxury self-catering apartment in the historic town of Petworth, West Sussex, in the heart of the South Downs National Park. You get the benefit of all you need on tap within walking distance whilst still in a rural location.
Set over two floors this apartment has three bedrooms sleeping up to six guests, and on the top floor features a striking double-height reception room which also has a sofa bed for a further two guests. It has a fascinating history as a purpose-built Victorian photographer's studio and is decorated to high standard with a changing exhibition of fine art.

The PenthouseOriginally built in 1877 as skylight portrait studio for the Victorian photographer Walter Kevis, this unique double height rooftop room now serves as a contemporary living and dining area with open plan kitchen. The large floor to ceiling (and half way up the roof!) windows flood the space with north light. The table seats 8 comfortably and there is a turntable and sound system so you can even bring your own Lp's. There is a Guitar, and film projector with large screen to enable you to sit back and chill out.

FeaturesThe Penthouse has been decorated with an eye for detail, with a quirky open plan living area, three stylish luxuriously equipped double bedrooms (kingsize bed, double bed, twin beds), and 2 bathrooms.The bedrooms are set up with bath robes and two soft Egyptian cotton towels for each guest, hairdryer, hangers and two hypo allergenic pillows all in pressed Egyptian cotton. Each bedroom has it's own style and colours, designed to create a relaxing and welcoming ambience. The top floor is more lively in style, with signature colours of orange and grey, a bold design which enhances the historic nature of the space.The kitchen is equipped for self catering in mind with coffee and tea provided and even a bottle of wine supplied by local wine merchant, Hennings, to welcome you on arrival.

LocationPerfectly located in the historic market town of Petworth. Walk out to explore the design/antique shops, cafés, and the National Trust Petworth House and Park. The Penthouse is situated within the South Downs National Park, only 20 minute drive from Goodwood where you can book tickets for racing, and 30 minutes from the coast at Climping, or 45 minutes to The Witterings, Itchenor or Bosham. There's so much to do here, walking or cycling up on the South Downs Way at Bignor, visiting Parham House and Gardens, or Arundel Castle or Cowdray Ruins and Walled Garden just outside Midhurst. For art lovers there are plenty of galleries to visit, with all the Turner's and more to see at Petworth House and just over the Downs Pallant House Gallery and Chichester Festival Theatre or Glyndebourne Opera a little further afield. There's nothing better than relaxing on a summer evening watching Cowdray Park Polo at Ambersham. Just ask us for advice of what's on where during your stay.!
